Know your enemy: Faces of hate.

More than two dozen current and former elected officials have signed a letter saying they “stand in solidarity” with anti-gay hate groups like the Family Research Council and the American Family Association. The Southern Poverty Law Center has identified these groups as hate groups because they don’t merely argue against equal rights for LGBT people, but also propagate “known falsehoods — claims about LGBT people that have been thoroughly discredited by scientific authorities” and because of their “repeated, groundless name-calling.” Of course, despicable lies are nothing new for Republican politicians, and it will come as no surprise to you that the members of this hate-and-lies group are without exception Republicans. The officials who are proud to stand in solidarity with bigotry, hate and lies are:

Michele Bachmann
Rep. Michele Bachmann (MN)
John Boehner
Rep. John Boehner (OH)
Sam Brownback
Gov-elect Sam Brownback (KS)
Eric Cantor
Rep. Eric Cantor (VA)
John Carter
Rep. John Carter (TX)
Eric Cantor
Atty. Gen. Ken Cuccinelli (VA)
Jim Demint
Sen. Jim DeMint (SC)
John Fleming
Rep. John Fleming (LA)
Trent Franks
Rep. Trent Franks (AZ)
Louie Gohmert
Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX)
Gregg Harper
Rep. Gregg Harper (MS)
Jeb Hensarling
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (TX)
Jim Inhofe
Sen. Jim Inhofe (OK)
Bobby Jindal
Gov. Bobby Jindal (LA)
Jim Jordan
Rep. Jim Jordan (OH)
Steve King
Rep. Steve King (IA)
Don Manzullo
Rep. Don Manzullo (IL)
Kevin McCarthy
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA)
Tim Pawlenty
Gov. Tim Pawlenty (MN)
Mike Pence
Rep. Mike Pence (IN)
Joe Pitts
Rep. Joe Pitts (PA)
Peter Roskam
Rep. Peter Roskam (LA)
Steve Scalise
Rep. Steve Scalise (LA)
Lamar Smith
Rep. Lamar Smith (TX)
Fred Upton
Rep. Fred Upton (MI)
David Vitter
Sen. David Vitter (LA)

Former officials standing in solidarity with dishonesty, bigotry and hate include Rick Santorum, the former governor of Pennsylvania; Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas; and Ed Meese, former United States Attorney General. Most of the other signers are the usual Christians preaching hate in the name of Jesus: Matt Barber, Gary Bauer, Chuck Colson, Bill Donohue, Maggie Gallagher, Alveda King, Richard Land, Phyllis Schlafly, and others.

Because nothing says “traditional Christian values” like bigotry and dishonesty.

  1. I’m surprised no reps from Utah have joined the cause for hate.

Glad I found your site- has anyone complied a list of the mormons currently serving in Congress?
Thanx. Keep up the thought provoking (and humorous, I soooo need humorous) posts.

I’m glad you found it too; thanks for posting.

Believe it or not, this particular demonstration of bigotry isn’t really a Mormon thing. I think I’ll post a run down of that situation.
